Giva Kuppusamy, the Founder & CEO of GK AQUA, is a renowned expert in Aquaculture Biotechnology. With his highly refined expertise, he has developed ground breaking technology for the production of 'all-male' Malaysian Giant freshwater prawns, which hold significant economic value. Mr.Giva's biotechnology innovation has earned GK AQUA prestigious accolades, including the National Aquaculture Award in MAHA 2022 and the Best Asean Startup in MBAN summit 2022. His exceptional achievements have also led to being named the Ernst & Young (EY) Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 in the Tech Category and representing Southeast Asia as a finalist in the Xtreme Tech Challenge 2023 hosted by the World Food Forum. Beyond his role as CEO, Mr.Giva is also the CEO of Sento Biotech Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of GK AQUA, dedicated to revolutionizing the feed industry through biotechnology and sustainability. He is a co-founder of Patriot Biotech, an innovative company at the forefront of next-generation sequencing (NGS) applications, focusing on disease management in aquaculture and promoting sustainable practices.
Prior to founding GK AQUA, Mr.Giva served as a Senior Manager in Crops for the Future (CFF), overseeing collaborative projects under the FishPLUS program focused on fish-plant research interfaces for sustainable aquaculture. He also held a visiting fellowship at the University of Georgia, US. Before his time at CFF, Mr.Giva served as a Farm Manager at SRMM Sdn Bhd, a freshwater prawn farming company. During his tenure, he successfully developed the first commercial farm for Macrobrachium rosenbergii in Malaysia.
