Dr. Sharifah is currently the Senior Director of Breeding & Research Services, where she is responsible for developing and delivering effective enabling technologies and shared services to conduct research for the continuous improvement and acceleration of breeding undertakings in One CGIAR-NARS breeding networks. She also leads the Breeding Resources Initiative with the objective to improve the genetic, economic, social and environmental performance of breeding programs across the CGIAR-NARS breeding network. In both roles, she works very closely with breeding teams and leaderships of both CGIAR and NARES to deliver the objectives of the initiative and Genetic Innovations.
Dr. Sharifah has over 20 years of experience leading various roles in agriculture research in both private and public sector. She was the Platform Leader of Integrative Research Support Platform in IRRI, responsible for the development and execution of all research support services within IRRI. Before joining CGIAR, she leads the R&D Cluster in FGV Holdings Berhad, one of the biggest producers of crude palm oil in the world. In this role, she was responsible for the R&D pipeline of the entire palm oil value chain for the FGV group.
Dr. Sharifah is passionate about driving multifunctional research where scientists with varied background work cohesively across the various sciences to generate sustainable solutions. She uses her passion to change mindset and culture within a team of global researchers. She provides a creative and supportive platform for everyone to generate and pursue new ideas. She believes in establishing a solid foundation in people and process to support the overall development and progress of any organization.
