Associate Professor Dr. Sutkhet Nakasathien was appointed Chair of the Executive Board of the SEAMEO SEARCA Regional Center for Research and Graduate Studies in Agriculture (SEAMEO SEARCA) in November 2023. In the same year, in July, he was appointed Chair of the Research University Network, a position he continues to hold. Additionally, since March 2021, he has served as Vice President for Research and Creation at Kasetsart University, Thailand. From April 2021 to the present, he has also served as a Member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the Food and Fertilizer Technology Center for the Asian and Pacific Region. Dr. Sutkhet Nakasathien has been leading the Reinventing Kasetsart University program, which aims to enhance collaborative innovative research and advanced studies in agriculture and food through international networks. This program is part of the Reinventing Universities and Research Institutes initiative under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy and Strategy (2020-2027). He is also a member of the Research and Innovation Committee of Council of University Presidents of Thailand.
He completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Agriculture at Kasetsart University and received his doctorate in Crop Science from North Carolina State University, USA. He excels in higher education research administration, research budget preparation, and the integrated management of large research projects. His research focuses on integrating crop physio-molecular biology to enhance crop productivity.
